The state compared EMS responses to overdoses over the course of the pandemic, March 13 through July 31, to last year’s figures. While overdoses dropped in July, when compared to earlier months, the number is still higher than what it was in 2019. Greenwood County has the highest overdose rate in the state, followed by Jasper County, Union County and Lancaster County. Newsweek reached out to South Carolina’s DHEC for comment, but did not hear back before publication....

Seoul, Jan 12 (AFP) South Korea has proposed marching together with North Korea at next month’s Winter Olympics opening ceremony and also forming a joint women’s ice hockey team, a government minister said today. The proposal was made during Tuesday’s inter-Korean talks, where North Korea confirmed it would attend the Pyeongchang Olympics following months of tensions over its nuclear weapons programme. “We made various proposals including the fielding of a joint women’s ice hockey team and a joint march into the Olympic stadium,” South Korea’s vice-sports minister Roh Tae- Kang said, according to Yonhap news agency....

The reason why Sony might wish to leverage save states for gameplay capture purposes might have something to do with how flexible they are. The online system found on the PlayStation family of systems has come a long way since its inception on the PS2. A free service until the launch of the PS4, the multiplayer functionality became restricted to PS Plus subscribers. The recently filed PlayStation patent suggests that the company will be using 5G in some implementations of its future cloud gaming content. But the news we bring you today is not of a single retailer jacking up the price of PS4 consoles to try to turn a quick buck. Rather, news has just broke via Sony Entertainment Canada that PS4 consoles will start retailing for $449 in the region. The Toronto Sun has the official statement from Sony Canada, which states, rather succinctly, that the price increase is in response “to changes in the market environment....

Sony confirms that on October 30, 2017 at 3PM GMT / 4PM CET, the PlayStation Live From Paris Games Week will begin and it promises “a slew of updates and announcements”. This will then be followed up by the main event, the Paris Games Week 2017 Media Showcase, which will also offers a look at some “spectacular games” which will be coming to PS4 and the PlayStation VR headset....

Sony has filed trademarks for PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9, and PS10. Depending on how long each console generation is, that should cover Sony for at least the next 25 years or so. Of course, it’s worth pointing out that just because Sony filed trademarks for the PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9, and PS10, it doesn’t mean that the systems will actually be produced. Any number of things can happen within the next 25 years that may keep Sony from producing new video game consoles....
