South Africa were 58 for one at tea, an overall lead of 325. The hosts, leading the series 2-1, did not enforce the follow on despite bowling out Australia for 221 and taking a first innings lead of 267. Australian captain Tim Paine, who was last man out for 62, and Pat Cummins, who made his maiden Test half-century, kept South Africa in the field longer than expected. They shared a seventh wicket stand of 99 - Australia’s best partnership of the series....

Officials with the State Fiscal Accountability Authority gave the unanimous approval for the deal on Tuesday with one abstention due to a conflict of interest. The 2018 riot at Lee Correctional Institution saw seven inmates killed and 17 injured over the course of more than seven hours. Most of those killed were stabbed or slashed, while others appeared to have been beaten. The Korea Institute for National Unification published its latest survey Thursday on the state of inter-Korean relations on the 70th anniversary of war breaking out between the two opposing neighbors. Amid decades of mutual animosity, the two countries split by Cold War rivals after World War II approached a high point in diplomatic engagement in 2018. But South Koreans have since lost confidence in seeing a united nation on the peninsula....

According to analysts, Sony had been hoping the share prices would rise about 101 Japanese Yen, or around $1 American, per share. Expected revenue for Sony overall was about 1.94 trillion Yen, a 9% drop, but they did better than expected with a largely unchanged 2.11 trillion total. Sony is a company with a lot of different projects going and many different products, meaning they’ve not felt the full damage of the pandemic....

This comes from Sony CEO Jim Ryan, who told investors that the company plans to invest in first-party studios “through organic growth and acquisitions” in the lead-up to the PS5’s launch. Sony hasn’t made a major studio acquisition since 2011 when it purchased Sucker Punch Productions, the company behind hit PlayStation exclusives like Sly Cooper, Infamous, and the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima, so this is pretty big news. While not explicitly stated by Jim Ryan, it’s possible that Sony’s new plan to acquire existing studios may be a response to Microsoft’s aggressive acquisitions over the past few years....

Back in April, Sony announced that the PS3 and PS Vita stores would remain online for the forseeable future, which came as a relief to many in the gaming community. There are a number of titles featured in those particular game libraries that can’t be purchased on either PS4 or PS5. However, now it seems users on PS3 and PS Vita won’t be able to purchase games via credit or debit cards anymore....

In a new blog post from Sony’s Senior Vice President or Platform Planning & Management, Hideaki Nishino, players can get their first glimpse at the PS5 user experience. Nishino admitted that the goal for this completely revised UI was based around the player and getting them where they needed to go quickly. After logging in, the system opens up the Control Center. If a player was previously playing a game, it also picks right back up where they left off....

For those unaware, the address is officially titled the PlayStation E3 Media Showcase and it’s the usual time slot reserved for the company’s annual briefing at the event, which occurs ahead of the main conference. As far as its location is concerned, it will take place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, which is where it was held last year. Although Sony has now confirmed the time and date of its presence at E3 2017, the company offered little else in the way of what should be expected in terms of its presentation during the show....

Some also saw this news as a “response” to Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but as deals like these take time, there’s no real way that’s true. Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan said as much when he confirmed that the Bungie acquisition had been in the works for months. There is one important similarity though: just as many expect Microsoft to clean up Activision Blizzard’s workplace culture, there were questions raised about Bungie’s workplace culture too....
