The official Bandai Namco website does feature some guidance on what players can expect from the game, with a return to the events of the original game, among other things, promised for the latest iteration in the series:
The 3D fighting game has also been built in Unreal Engine 4 and promises updated, state of the art graphics. As well as this, a roster of new and returning characters, revamped gameplay mechanics, and dynamic fighting have all been promised for Soul Calibur 6. The new game is the first to be released in the main series since Soul Calibur 5 in 2012, with the free-to-play Soul Calibur: Lost Swords and the mobile game Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul standing as the only spin-off titles to come out since.
Soul Calibur 6 is set to release in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
