Lies of P was first revealed back in May 2021, and since then plenty of details about the game have been revealed as it sets its sights on a 2023 release date. As more gameplay and trailers have been shown for Lies of P, a lot of gamers online have compared the title to Bloodborne. However, despite the potential aesthetic similarities, Lies of P was actually inspired more by Elden Ring, and even in its visuals the Soulslike will differ, as it is set in the Belle Epoque era while Bloodborne finds itself styled after Victorian England.

It seems that soon enough fans will get to see a lot more of Lies of P for themselves, as its Game Director Choi Ji-Won has revealed that the game is nearly complete. Back in August, when Lies of P also showed off some new gameplay, it was stated by Ji-Won that the Souslike was around 70% complete. In a new interview with 4Gamers, the director has given an update on that figure, saying that “most of the development” on Lies of P had been completed.

Ji-Won also remarked that the game was in a much more advanced state than he previously mentioned, which has some fans hopeful that a release date could be on the way. Ji-Won didn’t make any promises about when gamers could get their hands on Lies of P, or when a release date could even be revealed. Still, with the game so near completion, it appears as though it is only a matter of time before fans are given more information on Lies of P’s release.

From the extended gameplay that’s already been shown from Lies of P, the game appears to be a solid Soulslike, which manages to differentiate itself from the rest of the genre with its unique central character of Pinocchio. However, even with these promising showcases, and the details that have been divulged from Choi Ji-Won in the past, gamers are going to have to wait until they get their hands on Lies of P before making any firm judgments on it.

Lies of P is currently scheduled to release in 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
