Sri Lanka gained a one-sided 3-0 win against the Maldives in the opening men’s match of the day. With a scoreline of 25-18, 25-13, 25-17, Maldives got knocked out from the competition following their second defeat.
In their second match of the day, Sri Lankan men’s team suffered a loss against the dominant Pakistan team by a 3-1 margin. Sri Lanka gained the first set 30-28 after the teams tied their score. Pakistan went on to clinch the remaining sets 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 and topped the Group B table.
The first women’s semi-final was held between India and Maldives which saw the former gold-medalists thrash Maldives 25-14, 25-6, 25-17 in straight sets to enter into the final.
In the second semi-final, Nepal sealed a dominating victory over Sri Lanka, winning 3-0 in the women’s category. The hosts went on to clinch three straight sets with the scoreline being 25-14, 25-18, 25-21. The silver medalists from 2016 couldn’t find a way to defeat Nepal in what was a surprising result.
