Volleyball got introduced in the 1987 South Asian Games. India won a gold medal in both men’s and women’s categories in the 2016 South Asian Games and Sri Lanka clinched the silver medal. Pakistan (men’s) and Nepal (women’s) had to settle for the bronze medal in the previous edition.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Nepal will be participating in the volleyball event this year. The matches started four days before the opening ceremony.
